AS IT HAPPENED - Basingstoke Town 0-1 Concord Rangers
This live event has finished
- FULL-TIME - Basingstoke Town 0-1 Concord Rangers
- Basingstoke lose final home game of the season and remain 15th in Conference South table
- Sub Lewis Taafe gets the winner for the visitors on 71 minutes
- Second half delayed due to injury to assistant referee
- Basingstoke edge a low-quality first half
There were just 137 people here tonight. Not a great way to end the season at home.
That's all for tonight. Join me again on Saturday, when Town tie up their league campaign at Staines.
Town had some decent spells, but it was Concord who landed the knock-out blow. Not a great game and the hosts remain 15th in the Conference South table.
Reaction to follow.
Basingstoke Town 0-1 Concord Rangers
90+2 - Concord Rangers - Taylor Miles on for Gary Oglive
90+2 - Enver-Marum works space for a shot. He catches it nicely but fires well over.
90+1 - McDonnell is off his line quickly to thwart a dangerous attack.
89 - Williams lets fly from the edge of the area. Another good block.
88 - Wes Daly - Basingstoke Town
Daly wins a free-kick and is stopped from taking it quickly, prompting him to push a Concord player to the ground. A stupid booking.
86 - McAuley crosses from the left but Enver-Marum is beaten to the ball by goalkeeper Butler.
84 - Bignall fires in a shot from distance. Not a terrible effort, but it's well wide.
82 - Another decent save from McDonnell, this time to keep out Collins' curling effort. It's all Concord at the moment.
81 - Cawley wriggles free in the area and it takes a good block from Gasson to prevent him testing McDonnell.
80 - That's a top save from McDonnell. Gardner is through and fires in a powerful shot, but the goalkeeper makes a great stop diving full-length to his left.
Going back to the goal, it looked like the ball hit Smart on the head rather than the arm. We'll see what Bristow has to say about that later.
73 - Spot of handbags between Smart and a Concord defender. Bit of a scuffle but no action taken by the referee.
71 - Basingstoke Town 0-1 Concord Rangers - Lewis Taafe
Concord make the most of the free-kick. That might be LEWIS TAAFE's first touch and he blasts a low shot through the wall and past McDonnell, who didn't move.
70 - Smart is penalised for handball, with a free-kick awarded just outside the area. Didn't look like he handled, and if he did, it should have been a penalty.
69 - Concord Rangers - Lewis Taafe on for Tony Strokes
67 - Danny Glozier - Concord Rangers
Glozier goes into the book after hacking down Williams on the right wing. The ball in causes problems, but that's a good header away, denying Jay Gasson a clear chance.
Town are on top at the moment but Concord are defending manfully, making some brave blocks.
62 - Good pace from Smart down the Town right, but the cross doesn't match the run.
59 - Soares is played in down the Town left and his low ball across goal is just about cut out before it reaches Enver-Marum.
McAuley is on to the rebound, but his touch is heavy and into the hands of goalkeeper Jamie Butler.
57 - That's Town's best chance of the night. McAuley finds some space in front of the Concord defence and threads a pass through for Bignall.
He should probably score, but instead he fires wide of the near post.
55 - A neat one-two puts Stokes in behind the Town defence, but there's nobody on hand to convert his ball across the face of goal.
51 - Bit of pressure for the visitors. Oglive smashes in an angled shot, but only finds the side-netting.
Not a lot of action in the second half so far. Players still warming up.
Town get the second half under way.
The officials have done a quick warm-up, and I think we are ready for the second half to start.
The replacement official, local man Colin Lymer, has just run into the ground. The teams are out warming up for the second half.
Remember, Town only had 47 points before Monday's win over Weston. That looks like a really important win now.
That score is bad news for Havant, who need two points to be sure of a play-off place. Pressure will be on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Confernce South, Maidenhead are winning 3-0 at Havant.
Looks like they will join Hayes and Whitehawk on 45 points going into the last day of the season. A couple of other teams are also involved down there.
No such problems in Madrid, where Real lead Bayern Munich 1-0. And they've seen a goal.
Apparently, an official has been found. He's on his way, but the start of the second half has been delayed until 9pm.
There's just been an announcement put out asking for a qualified match official to report to the referee's room.
Apparently, one of the assistants has hurt himself. I hope they find someone. Don't want to be back here on Friday night.
A pretty dull first half. Concord started well and had some chances but Town had the better of the latter stages.
Basingstoke Town 0-0 Concord Rangers
41 - Soares shoots from the edge of the box. Not far wide.
39 - Collins is in down the left channel. His angled shot has plenty of power but McDonnell pushes it around the post.
Town have got a bit better in the last couple of minutes. Keeping the ball much better and forcing a few corners.
33 - That's as close as we have come to a goal. McAuley gets into space inside the area and fires just past the post.
31 - A half-hearted appeal for a penalty against Glozier. It may have brushed his arm, but the referee is having none of it.
28 - Collins lets fly with a free-kick. He must have been 35 yards from the Town goal. Miles over the crossbar.
27 - Concord have the ball in the Town net, but the whistle had gone well in advance of that shot being unleashed.
26 - Nathan Smart fires in a shot from distance. It's miles over and he immediately turns away and raises his arm in apology to his team-mates.
24 - Enver-Marum fires first time at goal from the edge of the area, but it's over the Concord bar.
23 - Town have got a bit better, but that's a chance for the visitors.
Danny Glozier launches a high diagonal ball across the field for Oglive, but his touch allows McDonnell to come off his line and claim the ball.
It's not raining any more. Turning into a fairly pleasant evening. Too many long balls on the pitch though. Poor fare.
15 - It's not a great one but results in their first attempt on goal, Enver-Marum firing wide at the near post.
14 - Town force their first corner of the match.
13 - Decent play down the Concord left leads to a shooting chance for Joe Gardner. McDonnell can't hold his angled drive, but claims the ball at the second attempt.
10 - Concord are playing a very fluid 4-5-1/4-3-3 system and Town don't know who to mark. Collins puts a low shot well wide from distance.
7 - Gary Oglive crosses from the Concord left and finds Collins totally unmarked 10 yards out. Fortunately, he heads straight at Joe McDonnell, but that was awful defending.
5 - Town have made a sluggish start and it's all Concord. Sam Collins zips the ball across the face of goal. Nobody there to touch home and wide of the far post, but not by much.
3 - Tony Stokes' cross from the left is just too high for Steve Cawley. Almost a chance.
Concord get the game started. They are shooting towards the Clubhouse End in the first half.
Who needs Real Madrid v Bayern Munich?!
Here come the teams. A rapturous welcome from the handful of supporters in attendance.
A late change to the Town line-up. Matt Partridge pulled up in the warm-up with a sore groin and has been replaced by Louie Soares.
Partridge is okay to be on the bench though. Not sure Neil Barrett and Jordace Holder-Spooner, who are here and fully fit but not named among the subs, will be too pleased about that.
Five minutes until kick-off and the ground is practically empty. Could be a new record low league attendance.
Right, time for me to head up to the press box ready for the start of play.
Basingstoke Town: McDonnell, Smart, Jenkinson, Partridge, Gasson, Matthews, Daly, McAuley, Enver-Marum, Bignall, Williams. Subs: Green, Adams, Soares, Ibe, Johnson-Schuster.
Concord Rangers: Butler, Easterford, Glozier, Cowley, King, Goodacre, Cawley, Gardner, Oglive, Collins, Stokes. Subs: White, Miles, Taafe, Njie, Bowles.
Still waiting for the official teamsheets. The Town players only have two games left to earn a contract for next season.
It's been raining steadily for the last few hours. I don't think there's much danger of an abandonment, but it's going to be slick out there.
Not sure there will be many people here to see the game though. Anyone got any ideas what Town could do to push attendances up a bit? It's been a bad season in that regard, with crowds regularly below 200 of late.
It's Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow's birthday today. I'm sure all he wants in terms of a present is a win tonight. Can the players get one for him?
Not a huge amount riding on this game. Both sides are safe but with no chance of making the play-offs.
Town would move up two places to 13th with a win, but Concord are likely to remain ninth no matter what the result.
Concord are in the midst of a horrendous run of fixtures. They played Saturday and Monday, while they still have to play tomorrow and Saturday.
That's five games in eight days. Madness.

Three changes for Town. Adam Green, Louie Soares and the ill Simon Dunn drop out, with Andrew Jenkinson, Wes Daly and Manny Williams coming in.
If I had to guess, I'd expect Williams to join Liam Enver-Marum and Nicholas Bignall in a front three, with Daly alongside Matt Partridge and Shaun McAuley in the centre of the park.
Good evening and welcome to live text coverage from the Camrose, where Basingstoke Town host Concord Rangers in their final home game of the season.
