This live event has finished
- FULL-TIME - Gosport Borough 2-0 Basingstoke Town
- Lacklustre performance sees Town lose on the south coast
- Rory Williams puts Gosport ahead on 32 minutes
- Bignall hits the post for Town early in the second half
- Dan Wooden's fine strike doubles the lead 13 minutes from time
That's all for tonight. Join me again on Friday, when Town travel to Eastleigh, who need a point to claim the title.
Should be an interesting afternoon.
Town have slipped a place to 15th after today's result, with Gosport going above them. They are eight points above the bottom three, but could do with another win, just to be sure.
A post-match interview with Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow can be seen by clicking here.
Another game, another lacklustre performance and no win. Really going badly for Town at the moment. They need a result to ensure that they are not looking nervously over their shoulders in the last week of the season.
Reaction to follow.
Gosport Borough 2-0 Basingstoke Town
There will be three minutes of added time.
89 - Gosport Borough - Adam Wilde on for Rory Williams
9:24pm Tue 15 Apr 14
Sadly I wanted to see a performance tonight and to attempt to go to Fratton Park I won't be attending the last 2 home games of the season
But when were playing like this and we can't find literally any sort of form I don't think ill even be going to Fratton Park for the Hampshire Senior Cup Final very disappointing performance
86 - Gosport Borough - Dan Woodward on for Tom Dunford
82 - Almost a third for the hosts. Wooden played Rory Williams through but Wells is out to save at his feet. Good work from the goalkeeper.
77 - Gosport Borough 2-0 Basingstoke Town - Dan Wooden
Town had been on top, but that's a fantastic goal. The visitors were stretched at the back and could only clear as far as DAN WOODEN 25 yards out on the left.
He was not closed down quickly enough, but it's an excellent strike, which finds the top corner. No chance for Wells.
There are 312 people in attendance tonight.
74 - Dunn lets fly from distance. It's a low shot and Ashmore doesn't gather it cleanly, but the goalkeeper recovered.
72 - Great play from Dunn, who beats several men. The run leads to a shot from Bignall, but it's into the side-netting.
70 - A clearance drops to Smith just outside the Town box, but that's miles wide.
64 - Scramble in the Town six-yard box, but the visitors smuggle away. Justin Bennett was lurking there.
The ball broke to Smith on the edge of the area and he had two bites at the cherry, with his shot going into the arms of Wells.
61 - Manny Williams - Basingstoke Town
Williams is a lucky boy there. He's lost his head and catches Smith high. Could have easily been a red card.
59 - Williams is back on.
57 - Williams and Scott get involved in a bit of verbals. Now Williams is down injured.
53 - That's a great Town break. Bignall started the move before racing through to get on the end of Dunn's clever flick. The striker lets fly, but the ball crashes against the post. So close.
Not much happening at the moment. Too many long balls from Town.
Gosport get the second half started.
45 - Basingstoke Town - Simon Dunn on for Louie Soares
Simon Dunn is out warming up. Looks like he will be on for the second half.
Here come the rest of the team.
I was wrong earlier. Eastleigh can't be promoted today. However, they could be on Friday.
Not a great first half, with chances few and far between. Gosport made the most of Matthews replacing Rice, Williams striking as they got used to the change.
Town have created very little going forward. Bignall has been a threat, but they haven't created a clear chance.
Gosport Borough 1-0 Basingstoke Town
45+1 - Gosport are awarded a free-kick just outside the Town box. Again Poate goes for the pile driver, but again he hits the wall.
8:26pm Tue 15 Apr 14
Another hopeful ball punted upfield and we get undone because of it do any of these players actually want to stay in a Basingstoke shirt next season? It does not appear it at the moment
43 - Wells is out to clear a ball overtone top for a throw. It's taken quickly and Molyneaux attempts to lob the retreating 'keeper, but misses the target.
41 - Former Aldershot midfielder Ryan Scott lets fly from distance, and that's not too far over the crossbar.
39 - The ball almost breaks to Williams in the Gosport area, but Lee Molyneaux makes a crucial challenge.
37 - Danny Smith lets fly from outside the area, but it's too close to Wells.
34 - Town look a bit shaky at the back. They struggle to clear a corner and then Williams almost gets in behind again, Matthews just about sheparding the ball back to Wells.
32 - Gosport Borough 1-0 Basingstoke Town - Rory Williams
A hopeful ball over the top finds RORY WILLIAMS in behind the Town defence. He puts his foot through the ball and strikes it well, but Louis Wells may feel he should have kept it out.
The goalkeeper got a hand to it, but could not keep it out.
31 - Williams lets fly from distance. Not too far wide of the Gosport goal.
Not a very good game so far. Neither side can really keep hold of the ball.
27 - Basingstoke Town - Robbie Matthews on for Robbie Rice
Matthews comes on and slots into the back three.
25 - Rice is down again clutching his knee. Looks like a change will be needed.
24 - Williams is back on. Still limping though.
23 - Rice is back on, but now Williams is down. Plenty of work for the Town physio.
21 - Robbie Rice is struggling after being caught late. Not sure how Tom Dunford got away with that. Looked high.
19 - That's the first real opportunity of the game. A good ball from Bignall puts Manny Williams through and while he seemed to pull Sam Pearce back, the referee waves play on.
He attempt to find Bignall in front of goal, but the low ball is cut out.
15 - Green is caught downfield and Bennett is in space down the Gosport right, but the Town defence deal with the situation well.
13 - Town work the ball out to the left wing, and Adam Green's cross is a dangerous one, but there's nobody on the end of it.
7:55pm Tue 15 Apr 14
Basingstoke's kit certainly does look like a eyesore no wonder why some teams elect to have a 3rd kit hahahahahaha
I don't really understand why they couldn't have worn red shirts as well.
10 - Andy Forbes plays a diagonal ball into the Town area. Ryan Scott gets ahead of Ross Adams but just fails to get on the end of it.
8 - A Town corner is only cleared as far as Nathan Smart on the edge of the area. The birthday boy lets fly and it has Nathan Ashmore worried but zips narrowly wide.
7 - Brett Poate lets fly. It has plenty of power but is straight at the wall.
6 - Gosport have a free-kick in a central area, just outside the box. Dangerous.
Town are playing 3-5-2 as expected. It's 4-4-2 for the hosts.
3 - Justin Bennett is flagged offside but gets off a volleyed effort that crashes against the crossbar. Good effort.
See what I mean?!
Town get the game under way.
Here come the teams. Gosport wear yellow shirts, with dark blue shorts and socks, but rather than wearing their red away kit, Town have elected to wear blue shirts, with red shorts and socks. It looks pretty terrible.
Tonight's game is the first of two Hampshire derbies in the space of four days for Town, who travel to Eastleigh on Friday. They could win the league with a win over Dover tonight.
I'm assuming Town will play the same 3-5-2 formation they used against Bishop's Stortford. I'll let you know for sure when the game gets under way.
Tonight's match is the fourth time that the sides have come up against each other this season.
Town won 2-1 at the Camrose in the opening week of the season, while Gosport were leading 1-0 when the floodlights failed at half-time just after Christmas.
They also met in the Hampshire Senior Cup last month, Town emerging 3-2 winners to reach the final at Fratton Park thanks to a last-minute goal from Robbie Matthews.
Jordace Holder-Spooner is another player not named on the bench tonight. Jason Bristow has some tough decisions to make over the summer.
The Town players are making their way off the pitch to carry out their final preparations.
The view from the press box.
The pitch is a bit bare in places, and looks rock hard. Not going to be easy to play on.
It's a lovely evening in south Hampshire. The sun is setting and there's barely a cloud in the sky. It's pretty chilly though, could get cold later.
Town go into tonight's game 14th in the Conference South table, having won just one of their last 10 games.
Gosport are in excellent form. They looked almost certain to be relegated fairly recently but have gone on a great run and are now just two places and two points behind Town, and probably safe.
@GosportBoroFC @BASINGSTOKE_FC will the match go on from 45. min or start new?— @iLLOWEEN 15 April 2014

I do hope over the remaining few games performances are at least 6/10
I have been stunned by our recent poor form and pathetic performances but looking on the bright side I think a point tonight will make us safe but realistically if we lose tonight and Hayes & Yeading beat Dorchester who could also be relegated tonight ill have fears of being dragged into the relegation battle late on
Never have I been so nervous about a Basingstoke game before
I'm pretty sure Town already have enough points to remain in the league next season. Performances haven't been good of late though.

Doesn't look good for David Ray. He's out on the pitch, but wearing a protective boot. I'm told he has done pretty serious damage to his Achilles and could be out for a while.
Gosport Borough: Ashmore, Molyneaux, Forbes, Scott, Poate, Pearce, Dunford, Smith, Williams, Bennett, Wooden. Subs: Sills, Wilde, Woodward, Brown, Richardson.
Basingstoke Town: Wells, Rice, Green, Jenkinson, Gasson, Adams, Smart, McAuley, Bignall, Williams, Soares. Subs: Ibe, Daly, Dunn, Johnson-Schuster, Matthews.
Just one change to the Town side that drew with Bishop's Stortford on Saturday, with Nicholas Bignall coming in for the injured Liam Enver-Marum in attack.
Wes Daly remains on the bench, but Neil Barrett is left out completely as Simon Dunn returns from injury.
Former Town striker Tim Sills is on the Gosport bench.
Good evening and welcome to live text coverage of tonight's Conference South fixture between Gosport Borough and Basingstoke Town at Privett Park.
