BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies were brushed aside by Southern League Premier Division leaders Woodley United on Sunday.
Hosts Woodley scored twice in the space of three minutes to lead 2-0 before the half-an-hour mark. Josette Pearmine had a shot saved as Town looked for a way back into the game but two further Woodley goals had the hosts in control at half-time.
Pearmine pulled a goal back with a header from Michelle Kimber’s cross on 72 minutes but it was Woodley who looked more dangerous late on, Erin Davis making two good saves to restrict the score to 4-1.
Town sit sixth in the table and are in the middle of a busy week. They alost 2-1 away at third-placed Gosport Borough last night and face a trip to Parley Sports, who sit ninth, on Sunday. Then, on Wednesday, they host Portsmouth Ladies, who play at a much higher level, in the semi-finals of the Hampshire Cup.
