OVERTON United A have the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One title in their sights following a 6-2 win away at Herriard.

Ross Soper-Dyer and Wayne Barlow had Overton two goals up but Herriard pulled one back before the break through Stuart Minton and levelled the game on the hour, Michael Higgs setting up Craig Lewington.

However, the visitors hit back to win the game, with both Barlow and Soper-Dyer scoring twice more to complete hat-tricks.

The big game of the day saw Pure Spartan take on Skewers, but both sides lost ground at the top of the table as it ended 0-0.

Skewers lost striker Sam Cato to a red card for dissent on 38 minutes but Spartan were unable to defeat the 10 men, who went close to nicking the points when Jamie Perryman was denied by Skewers goalkeeper Paul Drake.

Tadley Calleva A’s title hopes also suffered a setback as they were held 2-2 by Welly Old Boys Reserves. Kyle Theodore’s double had Tadley two goals up before the hour mark, but Mike Morey pulled one back for Welly 10 minutes from time and Graham Jenkins levelled the scores soon after.

Chineham Albion pulled off an even better comeback, recovering from 2-0 down to beat Hook Reserves 3-2.

Goals from Jack McKee and Henry Ransley had Hook in control but Chineham’s Leon Dolton netted twice to level the game. Hook lost first Lawrence Wright and then Pete Sylvester to second yellow cards, leaving them with just nine men, and Albion took advantage, Dolton turning provider to set up the winner for Jay Butt in the closing stages.
