Isgrove on Wales standby

Basingstoke Gazette: Lloyd Isgrove Lloyd Isgrove

Saints youngster Lloyd Isgrove has been named in the standby squad for Wales’ international friendly against Iceland in Cardiff a week tomorrow.

If the 21-year-old midfielder is not required for the senior team he will be part of the under-21 squad to face England in Derby in a Euro 2015 qualifier the night before.

That would be mean a potential head-to-head with Saints teammate James Ward-Prowse.

The England under-21 squad will be named on Thursday, the same day as the senior squad, with Calum Chambers also having a chance of making the cut.

CONGRATULATIONS LLOYD.
When Puncheon was loaned out at the start of the season I hoped that Isgrove would be given a few chances this season.Alas apart from a league cup start he hasn't had much of a look in.Lets face it MO PO seems to have an aversion to out and out wingers..We got caught out against the hammers at the weekend with the wing play of Jarvis and Downibg. who carved out several opportunities and provided the ammunition for Carlton Cole and co.If we had one half decent winger to supply the crosses for Rickie Lambert then he would be a 20 goal a season merchant.Oh for the days of TERRY PAINE AND JOHN SYDENHAM raiding down the flanks and providing the crosses for big RON DAVIES to put the ball in the back of the net..
Talking of wingers we will have to shackle Stirling on Saturday as well as Sturridge and Suarez if we are to get any points from LIVERPOOL this coming weekend.BUT I AM CONFIDENT THAT THE SAINTS WILL GET THE 3 POINTS. COYR.
