SINCE my last column, we have unfortunately had another two games postponed due to the weather.

As the backlog of games increases, we are running out of Tuesdays to fit them in to. This has now resulted in our game away at Hayes and Yeading United being scheduled for a Thursday – and the Farnborough game will probably have to be played on a Thursday as well.

This is something that will be very physically demanding for the players. With having to play every Saturday and Tuesday between now and the end of the season, a couple of Thursdays thrown in as well will seriously test the squad, their fitness levels and their ability to recover between games.

This week, we travel to Bath City, who have not had a home game called off this season, so we are hoping that the fixture will go ahead as planned.

The last meeting between the sides was a very entertaining 0-0 draw between two sides looking to play football. Bath are a very organised and efficient side who will cause teams problems going forward as well as being very hard to break down defensively.

This week saw the first leg of the FA Trophy semi-finals between Havant and Waterlooville and Gosport Borough. It ended 1-1, with Tim Sills scoring for Gosport.

The second leg this Saturday will be very tense and exciting, with one of the Hampshire sides earning a place at Wembley next month. I wish both teams luck.

This week also saw the first of the academy trials for next season. There were some very exciting players on show in an 11 v 11 game in what were very difficult conditions, with pouring rain and very soft ground.

Credit to the players for showing a great attitude and just getting on with it. The next trials will take place during the next half-term break.

Regards,

Jason
