THE top game in the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Premier Division saw Hook host Basingstoke Royals, with the teams drawing 1-1.

Both sides had one good chance in the first half, but Steve Horton shot over for Royals, while Hook's John Lancashire was unable to convert a one-on-one opportunity at the other end.

Royals' Richard Willcock was denied by a goal-line clearance early in the second half and Hook went ahead on 70 minutes, Jon Noakes converting a Lancashire cross.

Royals left it late to claim a point, Willcock nodding home Ramsey Lewis' cross in the final minute.

Sherborne St John are up to third thanks to a 5-3 victory over Old Basing Rangers. Matt Livingstone scored twice, either side of Alex Izzo's strike, to put hosts Sherborne 3-0 up at half-time.

Andy Tottman pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but Tom Brickley restored the three-goal cushion and Jon Uezzell made it 5-1. Charlie Manning and Alex Lipscombe scored late on for Rangers but the game was over Popley were unable to raise a team for their game against top-of-the-table New Inn.

Division One leaders Pure Spartan suffered another setback as they were well beaten by Tadley Calleva A.

Pure are struggling for a goalkeeper, Dave Purt filling in this week, while they only had 11 players for their trip to Tadley.

Michael Abbott headed the hosts in front, while Kyle Theodore scored twice before the break to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Chris Dobbie replied for Pure but Theodore completed his hat-trick soon after and while Darren Clift made it 4-2, Lee Calcutt added a fifth for Tadley and Theodore made the final score 6-2 with his fourth of the afternoon.

Bramley United beat Hook Reserves 2-0. Josh Archer converted Phil Mark's cross to open the scoring for Bramley on 27 minutes, with Archer doubling the lead in the second half.

Bottom side Herriard Sports gave a good account of themselves against high flying Skewers but went down 3-1. Simon Jane scored all three goals for Skewers, who are now level on points with leaders Pure Spartan.

Jane's hat-trick had Skewers 3-0 up after 54 minutes, with Sam Weber replying for Herriard late on.

Chineham Albion's troubles continued as they were unable to raise a team for their match against Overton United A.

Division Two leaders Hampshire Irons recovered from 3-2 down to claim a late win over AFC Berg.

Kieran Alleyne gave Berg an early lead but Chris Arnold levelled from a Jay Greene corner and Craig Hopper made it 2-1 to Irons at half-time, Greene the provider again.

Berg came back strongly in the second half and goals from James Cannings and Chris Hems gave them a 3-2 lead. Irons pressed and pulled level with five minutes left, Greene finding the net, while Arnold completed the comeback in injury-time.

Bengal Brasserie beat bottom side Sherborne Reserves 5-0. Jimmy Buckland hit a hat-trick, while Kyle Buckland scored twice.

Second-placed DJS Telecoms staged a remarkable fightback against Overton United B, recovering from 4-1 down to win 5-4.

Ryan Watts gave Overton an early lead and while Lee Neal levelled, further goals from Nick Breeze, Darren White and Jamie Smith made it 4-1 at half-time.

George Lagden's penalty reduced the deficit just after the hour, while further goals from Scott Hall and Nathan Lawson had DJS level before Neal came up with the winner with five minutes left.

Twenty Ten are up to third after beating Labour Club 6-3. Labour took an early lead through Rylan Willows and while Frank Spacagna equalised, youngster Mason Lewis had Labour 2-1 up at the break.

Jordon Wainwright levelled for Twenty Ten and Alfie Bisett put them in front before Ryan Lupton made it 4-2. Leon Duly got Labour back into the game but Danny Valance netted twice to complete the win for Twenty Ten.
