BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies remain fifth in the Southern League Premier Division table despite losing 2-1 away at Mansfield Road on Sunday.
The hosts scored on 25 and 40 minutes to lead 2-0 at half-time, while Basingstoke suffered another setback early in the second half when goalkeeper Erin Davis suffered a wrist injury and had to be substituted.
Outfield player Michelle Kimber was forced to don the gloves and she didn’t let any more goals in, while Basingstoke pulled a goal back on 84 minutes, Sian Wylie scoring after being set up by Josette Pearmine.
That set up an interesting final six minutes but Town were unable to get on terms and they face a trip to Bracknell Town Ladies, who are just below them in the table, on Sunday.
The reserves lost 4-0 at home to Widbrook United Ladies Reserves, though the scoreline would have been less flattering had it not been for some wayward finishing. They travel to Liphook Ladies this weekend.
