ON LOAN Romelu Lukaku hit a double for Everton as the Toffees pushed Saints down to sixth in the Barclays Premier League with a 3-2 win over Newcastle at Goodison Park.
Man-of-the-match Lukaku opened the scoring in the fifth minute and prodded home the third before the break, either side of midfielder Ross Barkley’s well-taken goal.
Yohan Cabaye pulled one back for Alan Pardew’s Newcastle with a superb strike six minutes into the second half before Loic Remy’s late strike ensured a nervy finish.
Former Saints boss Pardew is now as short as 3-1 to be the next top flight manager to leave their post after Sunderland’s sacking of Paolo Di Canio last week.
