Pochettino: The goals will come
The Saints manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is in no doubt that the goals will soon be flying in for his team.
With just three strikes in their opening five Premier League matches this season, it has been a slightly slow start for the club in an attacking sense.
But, speaking ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Crystal Palace, Pochettino said he believes they are ready to rekindle their scoring touch.
“I think in football it’s all about creating chances and we have been unlucky not to finalise those chances into goals,” he said.
“If you already think the players are playing well, imagine when the strikers start scoring goals; our team is going to be a lot better than it is now.
“It’s only a matter of time until the goals start going in.”
Pochettino, whose team have conceded just twice in the league this season, added: “We played two very tough home games against Sunderland and West Ham.
“We created many chances during those games and were unlucky not to score so hopefully this weekend we will get the three points.
“There is a very big collective effort from all the players when we don’t concede goals.
“For sure football is a team game and there needs to be a balance between the offence and the defence and now we are finding that balance between the two and that is leading us to not conceding goals.”
