Town Ladies lose at home
BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies were unable to make it two wins out of two at the start of the Southern League Premier Division season, losing 4-2 at home to Parley Sports on Sunday.
The hosts did not manage to play anywhere near as well as they had in beating Oxford City 7-0 a week earlier and went behind after just six minutes.
However, Lianne Hill levelled the scores seconds later and the home side grabbed the lead when Lindsey Beverley smashed in a 30-yard wonder goal on 21 minutes.
Parley equalised before half-time and took the lead soon after the break, a shot rebounding off Basingstoke captain Michelle Kimber and into the net. They made sure of the win with two minutes to go and could even afford an injury-time penalty miss.
The result leaves Basingstoke third in the table ahead of a home game against local rivals Aldershot Town at Winklebury on Sunday (kick-off 2pm). At the same time, the reserves begin their Hampshire League Division Three campaign with a trip to Winchester City Flyers Reserves.
