Hat-tricks galore as Tadley Calleva A thrash Chineham Albion
SIMON Penfold, Ian Cadman and Dave Higgs all hit hat-tricks as Tadley Calleva A thumped Chineham Albion 10-1 at Winklebury in Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One.
Albion featured a total of eight new players and it looks like it may take them time to gel as Tadley were rampant. Penfold and Cadman had both completed their trebles before Higgs came on as substitute and scored three times in six minutes.
Gary Hibbs was the other Tadley scorer, converting from the penalty spot, while Leon Dolton netted the lone reply for Albion.
It was a close game at Herriard, where Welly Old Boys Reserves were the visitors, and a 75th minute goal from Neil Greenwood saw Welly win 3-2.
Greenwood scored the opener with a free-kick that bounced over new goalkeeper Doug Gray, before Graham Jenkins headed home to give Welly a 2-0 lead at the break.
Herriard came back strongly after half-time and pulled level with strikes from Sam Weaver and Lewis Cavanagh – only for Greenwood’s fine finish to break their hearts.
There was just one goal in the first half between Hook Reserves and Overton at Berrydown.
Jack McKee scored it and then added a second on 57 minutes, chipping home. Injuries to Overton players saw them overwhelmed and further goals came via Andy Haig, Dan Framp and Dan Neller to give new Hook manager Shaun Flaherty his first win.
Bramey United restricted promoted Pure Spartan to just one goal in the first half, but Jack Tring proved too strong for them after the break, netting a hat-trick as Pure ran out 5-2 winners.
Steve Tickner scored the only goal of the first half, while Tring doubled the lead soon after the break. Ben Squibb reduced the arrears but Tring went on to complete his hat-trick either side of James Wakes’ strike for United and the fifth goal came when Tring’s shot at goal deflected over the goalkeeper for an own-goal.
