Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow's weekly column

Against Eastleigh we were very clinical and possibly just edged a very good game of football. We were disciplined in our play, frustrated Eastleigh and grew stronger as the game went on.
Against Weston, both sides created very little and a 0-0 draw would have been a fair reflection on a poor game but a good strike from a free-kick and then a scramble meant we left with nothing.
Staines have started the season with a couple of very good results and I expect them to have a strong campaign.
They are exciting on attack and are full of energy. If we are going to build on a good start to the season ourselves we will need to be on top form come 3pm on Saturday.
We suffered another setback when Nathan Campbell pulled up with a hamstring problem in the warm up on Monday and he a doubt for Saturday.
However, we are hoping that David Ray has recovered from illness in time to be involved.
Elsewhere at the club, our academy are starting their full-time training this week.
They have worked hard throughout pre-season and have put in some good performances. I know they are looking forward to the season starting on the September 11.
Please check the website for updates on their progress.
