BARNSLEY 1 SAINTS 5
BARNSLEY 1 SAINTS 5 (Gaston Ramirez 90+1)
Ramirez rounds off the night for Saints, dancing round Mike Pollitt before poking the ball home.
Saints substitution (90 mins): Emmanuel Mayuka off, Jake Sinclair on. A third debut of the night for Saints.
BARNSLEY 1 SAINTS 4 (Steven Davis 90)
Davis gets his second of the match. He hits his penalty to Mike Pollitt's left, and, although the Barnsley keeper gets to the ball, he can't keep it out.
Spot kick for Saints. Harrison Reed storms down the right and cuts the ball back. Emmanuel Mayuka gets to it first and is wiped out by Jimmy McNulty.
CHANCE (83 mins): So close to a dream goal for Omar Rowe. Saints break the play up in midfield, Steven Davis strides forward and slips a pass to his left, which finds Rowe in space, but his left foot shot is turned away by Mike Pollitt.
Saints substitution (81 mins): Jay Rodriguez off, Harrison Reed on. That's another debutant on for the visitors.
Saints substitution (72 mins): Lloyd Isgrove off, Omar Rowe on. The 18-year-old winger is on for his debut.
BARNSLEY 1 SAINTS 3 (Emmanuel Mayuka 66 mins)
Gaston Ramirez picks out Mayuka with a through pass. The Zambian striker cuts past the last defender, onto his right foot, and whips a shot past Mike Pollitt for his first Saints goal. He celebrates with an impressive backflip in front of the away supporters, 695 of whom have made the trip to Oakwell.
Barnsley substitution (65 mins): Kelvin Etuhu off, Tomasz Cywka on.
CHANCE (63 mins): Barnsley go close to an equaliser, as Jacob Mellis' dipping volley from the edge of the area goes just wide of the far post.
CHANCE (61 mins): Gaston Ramirez is fouled in a central position, 25 yards from goal. The Uruguayan takes the resulting free-kick, but his swerving effort goes just over the bar. Saints claimed the ball deflected off the Barnsley wall, but a goal kick is given.
Barnsely subtitutions (55 mins): Marcus Pedersen and Tom Kennedy off, Jason Scotland and Chris Dagnall on.
BARNSLEY 1 SAINTS 2 (Stephen Dawson 53)
From nowhere, the home side get themselves back into the game. Dawson is allowd to wind up a shot from 25 yards, and the Tykes captain hits it superbly, with the ball flying past the diving Kelvin Davis and into the bottom corner.
CHANCE (52 mins): Jay Rodriguez nearly scores again. He chests a long ball down superbly, before unleashing a skidding shot from 25 yards that thumps against the base of the post and comes back out.
BARNSLEY 0 SAINTS 2 (Jay Rodriguez 49)
A piece of real quality from Rodriguez. The ball breaks kindly to him just outside the area, he shifts the ball onto his right foot and bends an exquisite shot just inside Mike Pollitt's far post.
The second-half is underway...
Barnsley 0 Saints 1
CHANCE (43 mins): Barnsley haven't been looking threatening, but former Saints loanee Jacob Mellis issues a reminder that they aren't out of this yet by hitting a stinging shot from 25 yards that goes a yard wide of Kelvin Davis' near post.
CHANCE (40 mins): Danny Fox sends in a low cross from the left. Gaston Ramirez tries a clever flick from just inside the box, but it loops narrowly wide of the far post. Looked like Mike Pollitt in the Barnsley goal had been beaten by it.
CHANCE (35 mins): Jay Rodriguez powers in a fierce shot from 25 yards, but Mike Pollitt is able to beat it away.
CHANCE (32 mins): A lovely move from Saints nearly ends in a second goal for them. Gaston Ramirez plays a ball into the feet of Jay Rodriguez on the edge of the area. He chips a ball over the Barnsley defence, which picks out the run of Jack Cork on the left side of the box, but his side-foot volley goes wide of the near post.
BARNSLEY 0 SAINTS 1 (Steven Davis 26)
Lloyd Isgrove with a good challenge on Tom Kennedy on the edge of the area, which leads to the ball breaking free to Steven Davis, who converts with a low right-foot shot into the far corner.
CHANCE (17 mins): Marcus Pedersen controls a long ball forward and stretches to fire a right-foot shot across goal from the edge of the area. However, his effort is a yard or two wide of Kelvin Davis' far post.
CHANCE (16 mins): Nathaniel Clyne whips in a cross from the right, which deflects off a Barnsley defender. The ball loops towards the back post, where Gaston Ramirez comes sliding in, but he can't quite get to it.
CHANCE (1 min): Non-existent defending from Barnsley allows Gaston Ramirez to chest the ball down and waltz into the area unchallenged. He just has the keeper to beat, but slides his left foot shot wide of the post. Should have been 1-0.
