DALE Bristow was in top form and helped himself to five goals as Welly Old Boys beat Hook 8-1 in the Basingstoke and District League Premier Division.

He will hope to be in the same form on Wednesday night, when Welly travel to AFC Aldermaston for a Basingstoke Senior Cup tie (kick-off 7.45pm).

Before Bristow’s five-star showing it was Hook who started the better and, in their first attack, a good ball from Andy Parker put Tom Davies through and James Baldwin pulled off a good save.

Soon after, Bristow opened his account, heading home a James McIntosh corner and then, on 16 minutes, he volleyed home McIntosh’s cross. Hook struck back just before the break as Bradley Yates put Parker through and he scored.

Three minutes after the break, Ryan Evans headed home a McIntosh free-kick and then Tobie Hyde played a one-two with Doug Maltby to make it 4-1.

Maltby netted his second on the hour and Bristow completed his hat-trick from yet another McIntosh assist.

In the final five minutes, with the Hook defence in disarray, Bristow scored another two to end an outstanding performance and make it five wins in a row for the title challengers.

The other Premier Division game between Bramley United and Poison was postponed as Bramley could not raise a team.
