In-form Overton win again
HARRY Rudge fired in a first half hat-trick as Overton reeled off their second consecutive 4-1 win in the Hampshire Premier League, with visiting Hedge End Rangers their latest victims.
The home side took just six minutes to open the scoring with a penalty after Rudge was brought down by the goalkeeper and Dan Houseman made no mistake from the spot.
Two minutes later and Overton doubled their advantage as Jordan Grant forced his way into the box and found Houseman, he fed Rudge, who fired home.
The striker then scored his second of the game as he beat the ’keeper one-on-one.
Hedge End then had a few chances, with Matt Harris outstanding in the centre of defence.
They then made it 4-0 as Grant found Rudge who beat a defender and fired in from 12 yards.
After the break, the visitors pulled a goal back, but that was their only goal of the game.
Talking after the game, Overton manager Titch Bloomfield said: “Harry Rudge just ripped them to pieces. They did not know how to deal with the 18-year-old.
“We are now proving we are a top half side and hopefully we will carry on our recent good run.”
This Saturday Overton are on their travels to University of Portsmouth, before a week later facing a derby against AFC Aldermaston (2pm).
