ALEX Roberts scored the Sherborne St John extra-time winner at Portsmouth side Swan, setting up an away trip to Cosham Rangers in the second round of the Hampshire A Cup.

Sherborne manager Trevor Livingstone travelled with four first teamers missing and no goalkeeper. Sam Hylton was nominated among the outfield players to take over in goal and played his part in this very fine win.

Tom Brickley gave them a 15th-minute lead by heading home a Roberts free-kick and Tom Davies hit the bar in the first half.

With the wind at their backs, Sherborne were on top and hit the post three times through James Buller, Roberts and Joe Halter, and then in the final minute Swan equalised.

It was great crossfield ball from Steve Price that gave Roberts the extra-time winner.
