IMBRAD Ghouse’s knock of 80 helped Hobos beat Mottisfont, a result that leaves them fourth in the Hampshire Cricket League County Division Four North table.

Ghouse’s runs helped Hobos to reach 203-9, while Mottisfont were bowled out for 138.

The result leaves Hobos in with a chance of winning promotion heading into the final few games of the season.

AWE Tadley beat visiting Amesbury in a low-scoring affair. The hosts were dismissed for 122 but hit back to bowl Amesbury out for just 88 to win by 34 runs.

Hook and Newnham Basics II look set for a mid-table finish in Division One despite losing by 26 runs at home to St Cross Symondians III.

Alex Cates took 5-37 and Kishore Parmar 3-40 as St Cross were bowled out for 211 and while captain Ben Allnutt made an unbeaten 52, he ran out of partners with the score on 185.

Former first team captain Russell Droy hit 69 for Basingstoke and North Hants III, but they lost by 58 runs away at Hayling Island in Division Two, being bowled out for 213 in reply to the hosts’ 271-3.

Old Basing had an easy win over visiting Easton and Martyr Worthy, winning by eight wickets after bowling the opposition out for just 61. Struggling Whitchurch enjoyed a much-needed victory away at Steep in Division Three North. Second-bottom Whitchurch made 256-6 and Steep could only muster 229-9 in reply.

Hartley Wintney II and Hook and Newnham Basics III enjoyed comprehensive victories. Hartley made 217-8 away at Andover II before bowling the hosts out for 151 to win by 66 runs, while Hook dismissed visiting OTs and Romsey III for 116 on their way to a nine-wicket victory.

Overton lost by five wickets away at Littleton and West Hill, failing to defend their all-out total of 104.
