SILCHESTER Cricket Club have been boosted by the generosity of local companies Rainbow Double Glazing and Ash Park Business Centre.

Rainbow Double Glazing have been the club’s shirt sponsors for the last two seasons and have provided every club member with a new shirt. They have also given them various training equipment.

The family friendly business is based in Little London serves the surrounding areas. They have a dedicated work force of around 30 people and were established in 1992. As well as doing double glazing, Rainbow also do fascia and soffit work.

Part of the agreement is that they have their fun day at the club's ground each year.

Neil Wooldridge, director of Rainbow Double Glazing said: “It is a great club and it always nice to sponsor something which benefits your own local community.”

Local businessman Bill Macklin of Ash Park Business Centre is a former player and has kindly donated the funds for Silchester to purchase a practice cage for batting.

This has made training a lot easier as it can now be wheeled out to the square and used immediately, Ash Park Business centre is located in Silchester and offers various size units to rent, situated in a picturesque rural setting.

Bill Macklin said: “Having played for the club it was nice to be able to give something back to them.”

The club would like to thanks both Rainbow Double Glazing and Ash Park Business Centre for their help towards the club.

On the field, things are going just as well for Silchester. They moved up to third in the Hampshire Regional League Division Two North, after a nine wicket win at Hook.

The home side were shot off for 42, as Shaun Bradley and Lee Jones took three wickets and their were two each for Dai Maddocks and Kieran Brace. Silchester then knocked off the winning runs losing just one wicket.

Odiham and Greywell (121-2) enjoyed an eight wicket success over Old Basing (120). Overton's game at Herriard was abandoned.

St Mary’s climbed into the top 10 after a 46-run win over visiting Aldershot. The home side made 209-8 as Tom Lee top scored with 85. Ali Kanjee (3-26) and Verru Pokola (3-26) then bowled the visitors out for 163.

Oakley (165-5) lost by nine wickets at Littleton II (167-1) even if Steve Savage hit an unbeaten 71 and George Lethaby (63).

Basingstoke V remain top of Regional Division Three North after six wicket success at Thruxton.

Curtis Freer (5-30) put the skids under the home innings as they were all out for 102. Opener Jake Lake with an unbeaten 58 made sure the visitors (103-4) won.

Hartley Wintney III (202-8) are up to fourth after an 83-run victory at Holybourne. This was after a 135-run opening stand between James Philpott (67) and Angus Brown (58). Graham Seldon (4-40) and Kaesy Steele (3-23) then bowled out Holybourne for 119. Dave Chambers (83) helped Ramsdell II to 163-5 and a five wicket win against St Cross (160-9). Herriard (59) lost by nine wickets at Sparsholt III, while Overton III's game at Ampfield II was abandoned.

Old Basing II (156-8) are up to third in Hampshire Regional Division One North, after they beat Downton (155).

Sherfield-on-Loddon (63-4) beat Over Wallop (62) by six wickets and Rotherwick ITW (206-1) were nine wicket victors against Ropley II (204).

Kingsclere (142) completed a clean sweep of wins in the division, with a eight run success at Rowledge III (134).

After losing an early wicket, Kingsclere started to build a strong foundation through a 50 partnership from Norman Howe (19) and Ben Hardy (59). Then a final wicket partnership of 31 from Mark Hirst (23) and Harry Murtagh (nine not out) gave the visitors hope of defending a slightly under par total of 142. Rowledge’s reply started well Ross Andrews (2-33) made the first breakthrough with the score on 22. Mitesh Patel (1-12) picked up an important wicket just before the halfway point as the home side were restricted to just 55-2 after 22 overs. They kept the pressure on and completed the victory in the penultimate over, as fittingly Paul Gundry took his fifth wicket of the game.

Whitchurch won by 28 runs at Liphook (110) in Regional Division Four North East, as Jack Dancer (75) helped the winners to 138.

Ashford Hill (108) lost to Easebourne (174-6) even if Jack Ballard took 3-13.
