BASINGSTOKE and North Hants youngster George Metzger has hit his first century in men's cricket – at the age of just 13.

However, the talented teenager's effort was in a losing cause as the Bountymen's fifth string went down to an eight-wicket defeat away at Overton III in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division Three.

Metzger hit 102 of his side's total of 211, but it didn't prove to be enough and Overton cruised to victory, with Simon Trott ending unbeaten on 69.

Hartley Wintney III edged out high-flying Oakley II in a nail-biting finale.

Martin Prodger hit 95 as visiting Hartley reached 220-7, with Clive Welsman taking three wickets. Welsman then hit 63 with the bat, while Alex Brundle hit 60, but Tim Soper took 3-70 as Oakley were bowled out for 214, losing by six runs.

AWE Tadley II won by 12 runs at Compton and Chandlers Ford III, bowling their hosts out for 107 having posted 118-9 batting first.

Andy Stenning made an unbeaten 51 as Odiham and Greywell III were restricted to 139-8 at Easton and Martyr Worthy II, a total they were unable to defend, losing by seven wickets.

Basingstoke and North Hants IV sit fourth in Division One North after beating visiting Ashford Hill by 34 runs.

Tom Hartgill's unbeaten 94 helped the hosts to 225-8, though Robert Field took 4-45. It was a total that Ashford Hill were unable to chase down, Ben Firrell taking 4-25 as they were restricted to 191-9, despite the best efforts of Mark Williamson (59) and Matthew Pedley (53).

Odiham and Greywell continue to top the table, beating Littleton and West Hill II by 10 wickets this week.

Becky Hartnett and Tom Wiltshire both took 3-21 as visiting Littleton were dismissed for 99 and while Philip Thomas couldn't claim a third consecutive century, he did hit an unbeaten 66 as Odiham won the game.

Ramsdell bowled visiting St Mary Bourne out for 162 and won by eight wickets, with Dave Simpson hitting an unbeaten 70 and Michael Abbott making 56.

John Huntingdon and Sreedar Suragouni both made 66 for Old Basing II, but the strugglers were restricted to 224-3 chasing visiting Crown Taverners' 260-4.

Herriard were humiliated by visiting Old Alresford, being skittled out for just 24 chasing 236-5. Kingsclere were bowled out for 127 and lost by seven wickets to visiting Holybourne, while Sherfield-on-Loddon were unable to defend their all-out total of 138, losing by six wickets to visiting Medstead.

Rotherwick ITW left it late to claim a three-wicket win at Ropley in Division Two North. Phil Mitchell took 5-32 as the hosts were restricted to 171-9 and Ian Finlayson hit 83 in the winning reply, but Rotherwick only got over the line with two balls to spare.

Chris Turner made 91 as Odiham and Greywell II reached 229-7 at St Cross Symondians V. Matthew Hall (4-23) and Peter Hodgson (3-18) then did the damage with the ball as the hosts were dismissed for 112.

Shaun Bradley took 5-9 as Silchester dismissed visiting Michelmersh and Timsbury II for 92, going on to win by eight wickets.

Sid Sengupta made 57 as Old Basing III were restricted to 202-9 at Amport II, losing by eight wickets, while Hook and Newnham Basics IV lost by 43 runs at Over Wallop. Alex Stewart took 5-41 as the hosts were restricted to 180-7 and while Ollie Hewitson-Brown made 58, Hook were dismissed for 137.

Overton II lost by 107 runs to visiting Great Durnford in Division Three North West, being bowled out for 77, while the Division Four North game between Ashford Hill II and Ramsdell II was cancelled.
