THE Hampshire Cricket League begins this weekend, with numerous north Hampshire teams gunning for glory.

Hook and Newnham Basics II are the only local side in County Division One, while Basingstoke and North Hants III and Old Basing will lock horns in Division Two.

Newly-promoted Hobos are now in County Division Three North, where they have been joined by AWE Tadley, who moved up following the withdrawal of Midhurst.

They will be joined in the division by Hartley Wintney II, Hook and Newnham Basics III and Overton.

In County Four North, promoted Oakley will have one local derby game, taking on Whitchurch, who were relegated at the end of last season.

There are eight north Hampshire teams in Regional Division One North, with Ashford Hill, Basingstoke and North Hants IV, Herriard, Kingsclere, Odiham and Greywell, Old Basing II, Ramsdell and Sherfield-on-Loddon all lining up in that division.

Three local teams have been promoted into Regional Division Two, with Hook and Newnham Basics IV, Silchester and Old Basing III joining Odiham and Greywell II and Rotherwick ITW.

Three teams, AWE Tadley II, Oakley II and Odiham and Greywell III, have been promoted to Regional Three North East.

They join St Mary’s, who were relegated at the end of last season, while Hartley Wintney III and Overton III remain there.

Overton II have moved sideways into Regional Division Three North West, so they will no longer face an inter-club game against Overton III.

Herriard II and Ramsdell II have dropped into Regional Division Four North, where they will be joined by Whitchurch II.

In the Ladies leagues, Odiham and Greywell will be in Division One, with Hartley Wintney in Division Two.
