OAKLEY’S second team cricketers travelled to Hampshire’s home, the Ageas Bowl, to pick up their trophy for winning Hampshire League Regional Division Four North East.

The village side ended the season with a 100 per cent record, recording a magnificent seven wins out of seven to take the crown, The division’s leading batsman was Michael Wood with a total of 256 runs made and he enjoyed several fruitful stands with evergreen Steve Savage (181).

Lance Van Dyk’s 14-wicket haul for the season made him the top bowler.

As a result of winning the league, the team will be in Division Three North East for 2015. They will have plenty of local derby games, taking on AWE Tadley II, Basingstoke and North Hants V, Hartley Wintney III, Odiham and Greywell III, Overton III and St Mary’s.

It was a great season all-round for the village club as the first team were promoted to County Division Four North.
