HOOK and Newnham Basics II won a one run thriller in the Hampshire League County One against visiting Shrewton.

The home side batted first and Nick Willcock (72), Alex Brown (57), Ben Allnutt (39), Kerr Franklin (35) and Kevin Light (31) they made 270-8.

Visiting Shrewton reached 244-7, but thanks to late wickets from Kish Parmar (3-43) they finished one run short on 269-9.

Old Basing enjoyed victory in Division Two as they won at Fair Oak II by five wickets. This was after the home side were bowled out for 111 as Nick Cooper took 5-21.

Basingstoke and North Hants III (208-7) suffered a three wicket defeat at Easton and MW, this was despite Craig Williamson (94) and Callum Coombs (56).

All three local sides lost in Division Three North.

Tom Robson hit 118 for Hook and Newnham Basics III (272-8), which was in all vain, as they lost by five wickets to OT and Romsey III.

Tim Soper (4-31) and Rex Porter (3-43) limited RAMS to 204, but Hartley were then bowled out for 173, after opener Rajeev Nair hit 53.

Phil Thomas (59) top scored as Odiham and Greywell (185) lost to South Wilts III (206-9).

Ramsdell are third in Division Four North, after an excellent all round performance from Jonny Bradley (69 and 3-22).

Josh Holland (58) and Gary Clark (45) on his return, helped the Rams to 266, and AWE Tadley chasing a revised target got to 90-6 losing by 77 runs.

Basingstoke IV made 230-9 as David Price (99) and Richards (51) shared a second stand worth 142. Jake Finchen took 5-38, which reduced Sparsholt to 28-3, before being all out for 166.

Second placed Overton (287-6) beat Old Basing II (144), while Whitchurch (203-8) had a two wicket success over Liphook (201).

Brad Compton -Bearne (80) helped Oakley to 144, but it was 68 runs short of IBM Hursley (212-8) evan if Dan Sumner took three wickets.
