RICHARD Willcock led the way with a superb 136, as Hook and Newnham Basics enjoyed a run feast on the Isle of Wight scoring 337-9 at Ventnor, on their way to a 182-run victory.

The home side were bowled out for 155 in the 30th over, as Shane Brewer returned excellent figures of 6-26.

Hook skipper Matt Love won the toss and decided to bat, which proved to be a smart move.

Opener Willcock led the way with a stunning innings, being well supported by Josh Buckingham (25), Love (23), Alex Brown (31) and an unbeaten 54 from Rhodes Franklin.

The home reply started badly as Brewer and Ben Peart took early wickets.

Martin Blackman (31) and Chris Russell (71) looked to have stopped the rot, but Brewer removed Blackman and also skipper Russell.

Brewer and Franklin (2-15) then wiped out the tail, as Ventnor fell well short of their target.

League leaders Hook entertain Portsmouth this coming Saturday.
