HOOK and Newnham Basics will be hoping it is third time lucky when they face Bashley tomorrow (3pm) in the Southern League T20 Cup quarter-final clash.

The last two weeks have seen the weather win the day, so hopefully this will not be the case this weekend.

However, before Hook can focus on making the final four of the T20 competition, they have the little matter of a visit from Ventnor in a Southern League Division One clash today.

When Ben Thane and his team travelled to the Isle of Wight on the first weekend of June, they returned winners by 45 runs, despite a century from home player Jamie Miller.

On the island, Hook won the toss and batted first making 258-8.

Jordan Hobday led the way with 69 and was well supported by Matt Buckingham with a 61 not out.

Ventnor were bowled out for 213 as spin king Anik Divecha had a superb afternoon with the ball returning 6-24, which saw Miller run out of partners in the end.

Hook ‘s league trip to Tichborne Park last Saturday was a victim of the rain as were all the other Hook games in the Hampshire League.
