HOOK and Newnham Basics will be looking for a double delight this weekend, as they play in both the Southern League Division One and Southern League T20 Cup.

First up on Saturday, in a busy two days for the team is a trip to Tichborne Park.

This is a side Hook beat on the last weekend of May, earlier this summer.

At the time it snapped a three game losing streak for the Hook Army and in the process started a five game winning run. They would love the same thing to happen again.

In the first encounter, the visiting Tichborne batsman were unable to handle front line bowler Shane Brewer.

The opening seam bowler returned his first five wicket haul of the campaign.

Jordan Hobday and Kevin Poulter also both chipped in with two wickets each, as the visitors were bowled out for 149.

Hobday with a superb unbeaten 79, led the reply as Hook won with 20 overs to spare.

Unfortunately, since this game Hobday has suffered a season ending injury and so will miss the re-match.

However, Hook still have plenty of depth in their side and would love to chalk up their first double of the season, over a side who are currently bottom of the Division One table.

On Sunday, Hook are back on home soil for a T20 Cup quarter-final clash with top Premier side Bashley.

The New Foresters won at May’s Bounty in the last round beating Basingstoke and North Hants and will start this tie as favourites to make the final four.

However, Hook have some pedigree in this competition having previous made the final at the Ageas Bowl.

They would love once again to play under the lights of ground which is the home of Hampshire.

Last weekend, Hook’s home league game against Bournemouth was abandoned without a ball being bowled, as was their first attempt to play the T20 Cup with Bashley.

All the other Hook games were also washed out in the Hampshire League
