HOOK and Newnham Basics captain Matt Love is looking for side to carry on their recent winning streak, when they face Southern League Division One leaders Sarisbury Athletic.

Love has the nice headache of the having a full squad to pick from and said: “We are finally bowling and batting well. I feel we are top four team with the players we have, but we have to keep winning to get there.”

Last weekend, Hook enjoyed their first home win of the season, as they beat visiting Rowledge by eight wickets.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat, but soon regretted it thanks to Hook’s opening bowlers Shane Brewer (3-27) and Jordan Hobday (1-6). Kieran Thomson (2-42) joined the attack and Rowledge looked in big trouble at 35-6.

Former Hartley skipper Jamie Teale (30) then joined Sam Moseley (75 not out) added 56 for the seventh wicket, before Teale was bowled by Ben Thane.

Rowledge then moved their score into three figures before Rich Willcock (2-18) took two quick wickets and they finished on 151.

Hook made a solid start to their innings as openers Thane (30) and Thomson put on 52 for the first wicket, before Thomson (73) and Matt Love (50) guided Hook to victory with 16 overs to spare.
