Katie George took four wickets for just six runs, including a hat-trick, as England Women warmed up for their Tri -Series opener against Australia with a comfortable win against India A in Mumbai.

Opening the bowling, the 18 year-old dismissed three of India A’s top five – bowling two of them - in her second over to reduce the home side to 17-4.

India A won the toss, but were 55-6 when Katie returned to claim her fourth wicket in the 13th over, before closing on 85-9.

Katie, from Romsey, finished with the outstanding figures of 3-0-6-4, with her Southern Vipers teammate Danni Wyatt (2-0-7-2) taking two of the other wickets to fall.

Captain Wyatt retired after making 46 as England chased down the target within nine overs, for the loss of just two wickets.

Former Mountbatten schoolgirl Katie, who plays for Totton & Eling in the Southern Premier League, was not required to bat as England’s top six took the chance to enjoy some time in the middle, amassing 210-4.

New Vipers addition Tammy Beaumont made 31 and Nat Sciver hit a 35-ball 54.

Katie had not bowled when England won their first warm-up match against the same opponents by 45 runs on Monday.

But she is now expected to be a key member of the side that takes on Australia on Saturday.

England, India and Australia play each other twice each at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai before the top two contest the final there on April 3.
