BASINGSTOKE and North Hants will have to win their final game of their Southern League Division One campaign at arch rivals Hook and Newnham Basics, to stand any chance of promotion from the Southern League Division One.
Only the top team will go up and at the moment the Bountymen are 17 points behind leaders Calmore Sports.
However, uncertainty still surrounding Calmore’s ground/youth accreditation promotion credentials, so the second team would be promoted instead.
They would still need to win their final game make sure of this, third placed Bournemouth could pip them for second spot if they won at home to Sarisbury Athletic and the Bountymen lose at King George V Playing Fields.
The Southern League will decide who is promoted a week after the season.
Basingstoke skipper Mitch Stokes said: “We just have to keep winning and see what happens.”
Last season, on the last day of the campaign, Basingstoke travelled to Hook and the game was abandoned.
