SOUTHERN League Division One leaders Basingstoke and North Hants are on a revenge mission this weekend, as they travel to Liphook and Ripsley.

Saturday’s opponents were the first side to beat the Bountymen this season, when the sides first met on the last weekend of May.

This was despite a century from opener Dan Belcher, as Basingstoke lost by three wickets.

The Bountymen moved back to the top a fortnight ago. They now want to stay there and claim the only promotion spot, but skipper Mitch Stokes knows it is not going to be easy and said: “We have to take one game at a time, hoping to tick them off until the end of the season, when hopefully we will be celebrating.”

Basingstoke will welcome back brothers Ash and Brad Neal, Max Harsham for the trip, while Ryan Connor and Joe Oates are unavailable.

Liphook have a potential match winner in Suman Ganguly and Stokes added: “They are a good side, as they proved at May’s Bounty, and it is going to be tough going to their place.”

Most of last weekend’s cricket was wiped out, but Basingstoke did manage a win last Sunday.

Leading wicket taker Martyn James, produced a stunning seven wicket mid innings spell as Weybridge slumped from 59-0 to 77-8, eventually being bowled out for 104 in a Serious Cricket challenge clash.

The reply suffered a wobble at 42-3, before Jolly smacked two sixes in a quick fire 40 not out as Basingstoke won by six-wickets, just as the rains came.

Their next game in the series is home to Finchampstead on Sunday (1pm).
