BASINGSTOKE and North Hants all-rounder Keith Harsham hit the winning runs as England’s cricketing Vets went one-up in their three-match ‘Ashes’ Sixties Series against Australia at Blackpool.

Harsham came to the crease with England needing three runs to overhaul Australia’s 191 all out and coolly got the runs off the fifth ball he received.

England chased the target down with two wickets left but with only three balls to spare.

Harsham, who has been with Basingstoke since their Home Counties Premier League days, was selected for the England 60s squad after impressing selectors during the pre-season International tournament in Cape Town and his recent performances for Hampshire Seniors.

He is in the England squad for Saturday’s second ODI in Kidderminster and the third and final match of the series at South Wilts’ Bemerton ground on Friday week, July 28.
