BASINGSTOKE and North Hants returned to winning ways, with a super 10 wicket success over visiting Tichborne Park, which keeps them third in the Southern League Division One.

The visitors won the toss at May’s Bounty and elected to bat and were soon in trouble as player/coach David Griffiths got amongst the top order.

He sent back the top three for just 34 runs, of which opener Henry Don got 29 of them.

Fellow opening seamer Martyn James then bowled Pradeeptha Gunaratne and he then took a catch for the first of two wickets for Ryan Connor as Tichborne reached 47-5.

Thomas Allam (31) and Jack Skinner (39) started to repair the damage with a stand of 47, but they were parted when Allam was bowled by Connor (2-27).

Skinner then took on the Bountymen attack, hitting two sixes and four fours in a 28-ball knock which took the score to 120, before he was bowled by Mitch Stokes (2-33) It was left to Stokes and Griffiths (5-21) to finish off the tail, as Tichborne were all out for 133 in 29 overs.

The home side then made sure of maximum points, as Dan Belcher (77) and Max Harsham (52) shared an unbroken opening stand worth 137 in 26 overs.

Belcher hit 14 fours as he faced 87 balls, while Harsham collected seven boundaries in his 67 balls.

The Bountymen remain third in the table and will entertain local rivals second placed Hook and Newnham Basics next Saturday.
