BASINGSTOKE and North Hants fell a single point short of claiming promotion from the Thames Valley League after losing their final game of the season on Saturday.
Visiting Amersham claimed a two-wicket win at May's Bounty, reaching their target in the final over after restricting Basingstoke to 197-8.
Captain Russell Droy top-scored with 41 for the title chasers, while spinner Raja Naseer Ahmed took 4-29 in the visitors' reply.
The result, combined with a draw for Cove, means that the teams finish level on points and are crowned joint champions - but it is Cove who will be offered promotion as they won more games.
