SHAUN Udal enjoyed another great victory at Lord’s, this time as part of the Berkshire side that beat Hertfordshire by six wickets to win the Minor Counties Trophy last Thursday.
The Basingstoke-based cricketer, pictured below, took two wickets as their opponents made 194-7 in a rain reduced game.
However, it was Michael Roberts with a superb unbeaten 97 who proved to Berkshire’s hero and he shared an excellent opening stand of 135 with David Barnes (52).
Due to morning rain in the capital, the game did not start until 1.30pm and was reduced from 50 overs to 36 a-side.
Berkshire skipper Bjorn Mordt won a vital toss and stuck Hertfordshire in and they were soon 30-2 as Udal took a slip catch for the second wicket.
Herts continue to lose regular wickets as they finished on 194-9, with Chris Peploe (3-38) Udal (2-37) and Mordt (2-31) doing most of the damage.
Berkshire’s reply got off to a great start and by the time they won the game the Lord’s ground was bathed in sunshine.
