Brad Taylor and Felix Organ hit big centuries while sharing a 339-run stand as Hampshire amassed 555-7 declared against Kent in their Second Eleven Championship opener at The Ageas Bowl.
Hampshire were 123-2 when Organ (163) and captain Taylor (182) embarked on their remarkable partnership, after openers Ian Holland and trialist Kishen Velani both hit half-centuries in a 79-run opening stand.
Organ faced 249 balls and Taylor 253. They hit 24 and 22 fours respectively and two sixes apiece.
Kent (57) followed on after Ryan Stevenson (3-10), Matt Salisbury (2-17) and Chris Sole (3-4) starred with the ball.
Stevenson reduced Kent to 24-2. St Cross star Harry Came, who top scored with 21 in the visitors' first innings, then made 31.
