THE Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup has been given a revamp for this season with a completely new format.

Most notable is the switch to two concurrent competitions with the Plate being replaced by the Finch Group Cyril Thompson Trophy.

Both the Cup and Trophy finals will take place at May's Bounty on August Bank Holiday Sunday.

Finch Group are once again sponsoring the competition and this year, a company called Fortem Financial Education based over at Worting House are sponsoring the balls.

The Cup competition will contested by eight teams made on the basis of the standard of league cricket played by each club on a Saturday, along with previous performances in the Guy Jewell Cup.

These teams are Hook & Newnham Basics A, Basingstoke & NH, Hartley Wintney, Yateley, Rotherfield Park, East Woodhay, Old Basing and Odiham & Greywell.

The Trophy will be contested by the following teams: Andover, Ashford Hill, AWE Tadley, Binsted, Basingstoke Hockey, Chawton, Chineham Rugby, Herriard, Hook and Newnham Basics B, Kingsclere, Oakley, Overton, Ramsdell, Rotherwick ITW, St Mary`s, Stratfield Turgis and Whitchurch.

Weather permitting, the action starts on Thursday May 10 at 6pm with a Finch Group Cyril Thompson Trophy clash between Basingstoke Hockey and Ashford Hill at May's Bounty.

This will be followed by three more trophy games at the same venue: AWE Tadley v Chawton (Monday May 14), Rotherwick ITW v Whitchurch (Thursday May 17) and Stratfield Turgis & HW v Oakley (Monday May 21).
