Hampshire have confirmed the signing of South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn.
As reported in Monday's Daily Echo, the 34-year-old will arrive in June to train at the Ageas Bowl ahead of South Africa’s tour of Sri Lanka in July.
He will fill in for Hashim Amla against Somerset in the One-day Cup and in a County Championship contest against Surrey in June, before replacing his Proteas teammate at the end of the season, when Amla is at the Caribbean Premier League.
Hampshire director of cricket, Giles White said: “Dale is one of the best bowlers in the world and is extremely motivated to get going after a frustrating period on the side-lines.
"It seems a great fit for both parties - we hope that we can help him get back to his best and we look forward to welcoming him to Hampshire.”
