GEORGE Metzger had a dream debut for Hampshire Academy in the Southern League Premier Division, as he scored a superb 109.

The 15-year-old had a great day off from keeping wicket for Basingstoke and North Hants, as he helped the Hampshire young guns to a 164-run victory at New Milton.

Metzger’s debut ton came from 179 balls and he hit 12 fours during his three hours and eight minutes stay at the centre.

It was his fifth century so far in his young career.

He shared a third wicket stand worth 189 runs, with Felix Organ (84) as Hampshire scored 298.

The home side in reply, slumped to 66-6, before being all out for 134.

Games are coming thick and fast for the teenager and this afternoon, he will be back at May’s Bounty playing for Basingstoke against Bashley in a T20 Cup game.

He will then play in a three-day game for Hampshire under-17s against Devon under-17s starting tomorrow.

On Thursday, he plays for the South West against London, before heading to the Bunbury Festival at the weekend.
