James Vince made an unbeaten century as county cricket's 'South' beat the United Arab Emirates today.

Vince retired after making 125 from only 85 balls (14 fours, four sixes).

Tom Alsop was there at the end on a run-a-ball 29 not out as the South chased down UAE's 343-9 to win by five wickets with seven balls to spare.

Hampshire leg spinner Mason Crane took 1-52 from seven overs.

Liam Dawson (0-57) and Toby Roland-Jones (2-73) were the only bowlers to bowl their full ten-over allocation.

Batting at six, Hampshire star Dawson was out for 11.

Hampshire will have more players than any other county involved when the eagerly-awaited 50-over series against 'the North' begins in Dubai on Friday.

The series is a chance for players on the fringes of the England set-up to boost their chances of playing in this year’s Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup.

England coaches Paul Farbrace and Ottis Gibson, who were both involved in the selection process, are coaching the South and the North respectively.

England head coach Trevor Bayliss will attend the matches with national selector James Whitaker on March 17, 19 and 21.
