HARTLEY WINTNEY looked on course to finish their season with a win against Sparsholt until their game was abandoned.

The visitors had reached 22-0 chasing the village side’s 289-7 when play came to an end on the final day of their Southern League Division Two campaign.

Opener William Kerr with a superb 113 top scored for the home side and shared a number of excellent partnerships.

The next best scores were by Jon Kerr (38), Ben Hyde (25) and Scott Baldwin (24).

The visitor’s innings lasted just 2.4 overs, before the rain came.

The result meant Hartley finished seventh in the table.
