HARTLEY Wintney lost by a single run at Southern League Division Two title chasers Tichborne Park.
The home side decided to bat and openers Justin Read (31) and Martin Cheyney (18) put on 60 for the first wicket, but they were soon 61-2.
Henry Don with a run-a-ball 62, which included 10 fours and a six took up the mantle. Robert Mckeown (20) added useful runs at the end as Tichborne were all out 207.
Chris Saville (3-51) led the bowling attack, well supported by Tom Garwood (2-30) and Seb Waddington (2-43).
Garwood (45) and Louis Lynch (22) helped the visitors to 40-1.
Danny Plume (69) then kept his side in the contest and shared a seven wicket stand worth 61 with Ben Hyde (20) as Hartley reached 179-7.
Plume was finally out with the score on 202 and Rich Hill and Seb Waddington just came up short as the visitors finished on 206-8.
Hartley are currently in Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup action and complete their league campaign away at Sparsholt.
