HARTLEY Wintney had reached 125-9, when rain came to their rescue and their match against visiting Fawley was abandoned in the 44th over.

The village side put into bat on a damp wicket dodged the showers in their innings.

It got off to the worst possible start, as both openers Matt Kerr and Tom Garwood were out without scoring, as Adam Freeman (2-32) struck twice Captain Danny Plume (47) and Patrick Joseph (12) set about building the innings and put on 44, before Joseph departed.

Plume and Chris Saville enjoyed the next best stand as they moved the score to 93-5.

The introduction of youngster Bailey Parratt (5-11), put the skids on the innings as the home side soon found themselves 113-9.

Brothers Seb Waddington (18) and Ollie Waddington (2) took the score to 125, before the players were forced into the pavilion and further rain ended the contest in the early evening.

This Saturday, Hartley have their final away game of the season at Tichborne Park and then conclude their season with a home game against Sparsholt.
