HOOK and Newnham Basics maintained their Southern League Division One title push, with a thrilling six run victory at Liphook and Ripsley.
The home side won the toss and put the visitors into bat, and their innings was built around a superb 94 not out from opener Harry Warner.
His 145-ball knock which included eight fours and one six, enabled Hook to reach 257-7 from their 50 overs.
He shared a number of good partnerships with Harry Came (23), Matt Love (21), Jordan Hobday (39) and Josh Buckingham (34).
Sean Burton (2-42) and George Neave (2-48) were the leading Liphook wicket takers.
Liphook made a good start in their reply, after losing opener Rob Nicklin (21) caught behind by Buckingham, which gave Oliver May (1-13) a wicket on his Hook debut.
Gabriel Broadhurst (34) and Giles Cover (102) took the score past 100, before Kevin Poulter (1-24) was rewarded with a wicket for a very tight spell of bowling.
Suman Ganguly (50) and Cover continued to put Liphook in the driving seat, as they shared a third wicket stand of 78.
Richard Willcock removed Ganguly and then Aniket Divecha (3-41) bowled century man Cover.
From here the home side collapsed from 228-3 to 251 all out, as Jordan Hobday (2-44) and Ben Thane (2-52) took out the tail.
With leaders Sarisbury Athletic crushing Totton and Eling, Hook remain second three points off top spot.
Their next league game is on Saturday, when they face a visit from third placed Andover.
