RAMSDELL are up to third in Hampshire County Division Four, after Stef Edirisinghe was the last gasp star of the show as the Rams snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a one wicket win over AWE Tadley.

With nine wickets down and nine runs needed to win, Edirisinghe and John Munday took a single apiece before Ramsdell’s number 11 swung a vital six, that was helped over the boundary line by an AWE fielder.

Edirisinghe, celebrated his reprieve of nearly being caught by hitting a four to clinch victory as the home side reached 176-9. Earlier, Jack Parsons scored 63 as AWE made 173-7.

Becky Hartlett (5-18) and Matthew Hall (4-14) shot Holybourne out for 96, as leaders Odiham and Greywell march on after a six wicket success.

However, the rest of the local teams in the division lost. Peter Brown hit 89 in Ashford Hill’s 198, as they chased Hurstbourne Priors 224-6. Oakley were bowled out for 129 hunting down Alton III 172-9. Tom Trinder scored 87, but Whitchurch were all out for 167 and lost by seven wickets at Sparsholt II. Basingstoke IV (113) lost to Medstead (225).

Overton and Compton tied in County Division Three as both sides scored 236 as Dan Johnson hit 56. Hook III (182-1) beat Bishop’s Waltham (181-6). Sukhdev Buttar took 3-32, but it was all in vain as Hartley Wintney II (122) lost at Liss (142).

Old Basing moved into the promotion shake-up of County Division Two shake-up after an impressive 144 run victory at Portchester. Shaun Udal (72) and Darren Turner (67) helped the visitors to 298-8 and then the home side were bowled out for 154.

Despite an unbeaten 87 from Keith Harsham Basingstoke III (218-8) lost at Petersfield (229-6).

Hook II (266-8) in Division One lost by three wicket at Portsmouth and Southsea (267-8) in Division One.
