BASINGSTOKE and North Hants bounced back to winnings ways in the Southern League Division One, as they beat visiting Liphook and Ripsley by 19 runs.

The home side were put into bat and it looked a good move as opening bowler Suman Ganguly (2-26) removed Chris Froud (4) and Max Harsham (4).

Ben Julin was the third man out after a quick fire 17 from 14 balls which included four fours.

The Australian was then caught behind by Chris Martin off a Sean Burton (2-23) delivery.

Captain Mitch Stokes scored a run-a-ball 12, before he was caught and bowled by Charles Janczur which left the home side reeling at 71-4.

Dean Nurse failed to trouble the scorers and then opener Dan Belcher (32), who had the longest innings of the game which lasted 84 balls, became the first wicket for former Hartley man Dan Wrenn (2-29).

This brought to the centre Chris Jolley and the number eight, did not disappoint with a brilliant 54 from 48 balls which saw nine boundaries.

He was removed by returning opening bowler George Neave (2-21), but his late knock helped the Bountymen to an all out total of 151.

The home side needed quick wickets and skipper Stokes (3-40) made sure of this as he dismissed both Liphook openers Rob Nicklin (10) and Gabriel Broadhurst (6).

Martyn James (2-25) joined in and removed Harry Munt (0) and Chris Marin (9), which left Liphook on 49-4.

The visitor’s lost a fifth wicket nine runs later, as Grant Rouse was caught and bowled by Stokes.

However, with star player Ganguly (43) still at the crease, the visitors always had a chance of victory and along with Wrenn (20) they moved the score to 97-6.

Wrenn was dismissed by Jolley (2-4) thanks to a catch from Harsham.

The same Basingstoke player then took the prized scalp of Ganguly, who hit the only six of the match to leave the visitors on 108-8.

Liphook may have had overs in hand, but they were unable to use them as Graham Porter and Ashley Neal made sure the visitors were bowled out for 132.

Next up for the Bountymen is a trip to Bournemouth, who have won their last two games.
