HOOK and Newnham Basics booked their place in the second round of the T20 Cup, thanks to a 69-run victory at Totton and Eling.

Hook captain Matt Love won the toss and elected to bat and his side made a good start, thanks to Ben Thane (73) and Jordan Hobday (14).

The runs continued to come think and fast as Kieran Thomson (27) Matt Love (20) and then Harry Came with an unbeaten 46 helped the visitors to 206-5 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Totton made a solid start from openers Mark Mbofana (24) and Jimmy Taylor (35), but Rhodes Franklin (4-24) put the skids under the innings.

He was well supported by Shane Brewer, Hobday, Kevin Poulter, Came and Love who all took a wicket each as the home side were bowled out for 137.

Josh Buckingham had a great time behind the stumps with a hand in five dismissals.
