BASINGSTOKE and North Hants second team continued their reign at the top of the Southern League Division Three after a four wicket win over visiting Waterlooville.

The visitors were put into bat by captain Steve Bucksey and were bowled out for 229.

The wickets were spread around the team Ryan Connor took 2-14 from a very mean 10 over spell and Joe Oates 2-67, while there were singles for Harry Smith, Dan Coombs, Keith Harris, Bucksey and Craig Williamson.

In reply, openers Richard Vinn (61) and Craig Williamson (39) put on 83 for the first wicket, before Williamson was the first man out caught by Henik Nel off the bowling of Jon Hudson (3-35).

The same bowler struck again next delivery to dismiss George Chaffer and then Bucksey survived the hat-trick ball, but followed soon after as the home side slipped to 87-3 Former first team captain Coombs got the Bountymen back on track as along with Vinn, they added 63 runs for the fourth wicket, before Vinn was dismissed.

A short and sweet partnership between the Coombs brothers saw Callum depart for just one.

Joe Oates (41 not out) came to the centre and along with Coombs they guided the home side past 200 with Coombs the last man out for 74, which included six fours from 91 balls.

It was left to Oates and Lee Nurse to see the side home and next up for them is a trip to Gosport Borough.
