BASINGSTOKE and North Hants skipper Mitch Stokes is expected to name an unchanged side for his side’s trip to OT’s and Romsey.

The Bountymen opened their Southern League Division One with a two wicket win over visiting Sarisbury Athletic last weekend.

Stokes led by example with a superb 107, which came in just 68 balls and included 14 fours and four sixes.

When he was the fifth man out the Bountymen only needed 38 runs for victory, but they managed to loss three more wickets getting home with 13 overs to spare.

Earlier in the contest, the visitors won the toss and decided to bat, but found front line Basingstoke bowler Martyn James (4-26) in fine form and then Australian Ben Jubin (3-37) took most of the wickets as the Sarisbury finished on 179-8.

Stokes who missed Sunday’s National Cup exit at Havant will be fit to lead the side at Romsey and said: “I was pleased to see us win our opening game, but we have to bat better.

"We bowled really well and it was nice to see Ben (Jubin) take wickets in his first game.

"I am excepting a slow track at Romsey, but it would be nice to make it two league wins on the trot."

The Bountymen lost at Havant by five wickets as the visitors scored 200-7 from their 45 overs as Chris Jolley top scored with an unbeaten 63.

The home side reached their target with 10 overs to spare as Jolley and Ashley Neal both took two wickets.

Basingstoke’s seconds game at Ryde in Division Three last weekend was cancelled, this Saturday they are at home to St Cross Syms II.
