Wicketkeeper-batsmen Lewis McManus and Tom Alsop have signed new deals until the end of the 2017 season.

Their contracts were due to expire at the end of next season, but they have now committed to Hampshire for the next two years.

McManus scored a half century on his Championship debut and said: “I’m really pleased to be staying here at Hampshire – it’s a great environment to be in and I feel I’ve built strong relationships with both the both players and the coaches.

"Playing the two games in the first-team this year was a great experience and it has highlight the areas of my game I’d like to improve to hopefully play more first-team cricket over the next couple of years.”

England U19 batsman Alsop, who also graduated through Hampshire’s youth system, made his first-class debut last year.

Alsop, 19, said: “Hampshire Cricket is an exciting place at the moment and I’m over the moon to have signed a new deal. I just need to keep scoring runs in the Second XI and hopefully a chance will come for me to establish a place in the first-team.”

Hampshire Director of Cricket, Giles White said: “Both Lewis and Tom have come through the ranks and developed into very promising young cricketers.

"Their ambition will be to push for a permanent place in the first-team and we are looking forward to seeing how they progress over the next two years.”
