HARRY Warner hit a century as Hook and Newnham Basics III ended the season with a big win.

However, an eight-wicket win away at East Woodhay on the final day was only good enough to earn Hook third place in Hampshire Cricket League County Division Three North, just outside the promotion places.

East Woodhay were restricted to 195-5 and Hook made light work of their target, Warner guiding them home with an unbeaten 108 and Dan Moore making 51, but it wasn't enough to earn them a top-two finish.

It was better news for Hobos, who won the division and earned promotion despite their final game at Hursley Park II being rained off. Overton's trip to Fair Oak II also fell victim to the weather.

AWE Tadley have been relegated after finishing bottom of the table, despite winning their final game of the season.

Having restricted visiting Liss to 227-7, Michael Deller-Merricks top-scored with 54 as AWE claimed a six-wicket win.

Hartley Wintney II suffered a 141-run defeat at home to Flamingo, being restricted to 101-7 chasing 242-5.

Hook and Newnham Basics II finished a creditable sixth in Division One after winning a rain-affected final game at home to Ellingham.

Matt McNally (78), Ben Allnutt (62) and Sam Bruin (62) all did well with the bat as Hook reached 258-5. The Ellingham target was reduced to 222 from 37 overs, but they were behind the rate at 155-4 when rain stopped play after 29 overs.

Basingstoke and North Hants III suffered a batting collapse on their way to a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of visiting Compton and Chandlers Ford in Division Two.

Mark Richards made 57 and the hosts were 119-2 at one point, but they then lost seven wickets for 14 runs and ended on 140-9.

Old Basing's game against visiting Bedhampton was rained off, so both they and Basingstoke end the season in mid-table.

Whitchurch managed to end their Division Four North campaign on a high. They made 182-6 before restricting hosts Bentworth to 128-7, winning by 54 runs.

Oakley suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of visiting Colden Common, but like Whitchurch, they end the campaign in mid-table.

The visitors made 315-4 batting first, before bowling Oakley out for just 109 to win by a massive 206 runs.
